Our internet server provider (Volts and Bits Limited) has incidental access to any information stored on their servers. Volts and Bits Limited do not access customer information except if required by a court order.
Users who choose to receive our email newsletter, will have their email address shared with our email server provider (Mailchimp) to facilitate the sending of newletters. Mailchimp staff members are bound by contractual obligations with us to not access this information unless they are required to by law.
Consistent with security best practices, users' passwords are NOT stored in plaintext.
Some information supplied by users such as usernames and photos are publicly visible.
Users' city, supplied during sign-up can be publicly visible or hidden depending on settings chosen by the user via the Gluten Free Land website.
Gluten Free Land does not store users' addresses that are optionally supplied at sign-up. The addresses are immediately converted to coordinates using the Google geocoding service. Google therefore have incidental access to any addresses supplied to Gluten Free Land in the same way that they have access to any address typed into the Google Maps website.
Gluten Free Land respects its users privacy and will only deliberately disclose personal information when required to by New Zealand law enforcement AND/OR to aid investigation when a user breaches our terms of service, including but not limited to users using the Gluten Free Land website to commit an illegal activity, disseminate unsolicited commercial messages or breach copyright.

Certain aspects of Gluten Free Land allow the user to search for places nearby that sell gluten free foods. These features necessarily collect and process users' locations. Aggregate statistics are also collected, however these are not linked to individual registered users' profiles.
Information such as your location(s) may be inadvertently collected in standard server logs that may also contain users' IP addresses. This information is collected for standard server diagnostics and is routinely deleted.
Use of Facebook Data & Facebook Data Deletion Instructions
When you register an account at Gluten Free Land using your Facebook account, certain details are shared with us by Facebook. The details that we collect are your first name, last name, facebook id and profile photo.
These details are used to create your user profile at Gluten Free Land for the purposes of enabling you to share recipes and reviews on our website without having to provide an email address or password.
Your Facebook login credentials are never visible to Gluten Free Land, they are provided directly to Facebook who authenticate you on behalf of Gluten Free Land using the OAuth protocol.
No further personal information about you from Facebook is stored by Gluten Free Land.
We offer an alternative method to register directly with Gluten Free Land using your email address and a password. Facebook is not involved with this method and no information about you is retrieved from or supplied to Facebook when using this method.
In summary, Gluten Free Land will act in good faith and wherever possible to take reasonable steps to protect your personal information, however offer no guarantees that it will be successful and cannot be held liable if such steps are ineffective or inadequate.
Data Deletion: If you would like your personal details removed from our records, please simply make a request using our contact form and we will delete your personal information from our database. Deletion is irreversible and will result in you no longer being able to share recipes and reviews on the Gluten Free Land website.
